The New York Times published an interesting story a few days ago concerning our most honorable Governor Bobby Jindal's current status as a possible VP for McCain. The article argues that whereas McCain is seen as having a scratchy record on toeing the party line, our own PBJ has a record dripping with all the religious fervor any right wingnut would be proud to slurp up, and is therefore the perfect young, dynamic offset for McCain's wishy-washy oldness.

Now, I've always held the opinion that Piyush Jindal is his own greatest creation, fashioning himself with extraordinary singleness of purpose into "Bobby" from The Brady Bunch, squeaky clean with a seemingly painful, but heartfelt and total conversion to Catholicism. He made himself over, from the son of Indian immigrants into a young rising star of the Republican party. He groomed every aspect of himself, from his sparkling college career to his pius and beautifully orchestrated acceptance of evangelical Christian values.

(An Interesting side note. Check out this article from the Daily Kingfish last year concerning the whacked-out side of "Bobby" that even his own press agents don't want to let out.)

One of the criticisms that's always been an issue with PBJ has been his steady record of hopping progressively upward as if on a planned trajectory. Hello? I don't care what he says about "having the job he wants". The Governor's office is just another stepping stone. If he's not VP this year, watch him in four.

"Bobby" Jindal offends me on so many different levels. As if being a lockstep lackey of the Bush Administration weren't enough, it's clear to me that young Piyush had a plan as a kid. And Louisiana has just been checked off.

Right, according to you, he was dreaming of politics when he was 4 (that's when he became Bobby). And why can't you just critize his political positions which you disagree with. Why insisting on calling him Piyush when he really prefers to be called Bobby. This is Louisiana. A previous Governor was Buddy Roemer. A current stateholder is Buddy Caldwell. The Lt. Gov is Mitch Landrieu. None of these are their names which they were born with.

If Gov Jindal wants to be called Bobby, let's agree and call him Bobby. Challenge him on his political positions (intelligent design, extreme pro-life, anti-environment, pro-Iraq war).

Why? Just because he wants something doesn't mean anyone has to agree. You call him Bobby.

Challenge him on his political positions (intelligent design, extreme pro-life, anti-environment, pro-Iraq war).

What would be the point of that? They aren't really defensible positions. In any case, the question is, does he actually hold those views? Or are they just the views which he thinks will get him elected? I imagine he would be quite willing to shed all of them if that would make him more electable.

When you run for office and campaign by showing your personal values, you are asking people to examine them. BJ trots out these things, and my evaluation of them is not flattering. What I see is someone with out principles. Who doesn't believe in anything. Who will say and do anything to achieve his goals.
