Religious Freedom

I find it ironic that our personal religious preferences are being used to divide the one thing that unites us - America. Our shared government, the one thing that unites all of us, must be all inclusive.

Many of our forefathers, the founders of this great country, came to America to escape religious persecution. Have we forgotten the lessons that they taught us so quickly? Will America celebrate its 250 year anniversary as the land of the free, enjoying the freedoms that true American patriots paid for with their blood? Or will we squander the legacy that has been given to us, quarreling with our fellow citizens over private religious differences?

It is clear what the founders thought about this issue. They felt so strongly about it, that it was the first thing they explicitly stated in the Bill of Rights:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Has the life blood of our nation, the individuality of our citizens, become so diluted that we allow demagogues to manipulate us so easily?
